Road freight continues to play a central role in European supply chains. According to recent Eurostat road freight statistics, EU road freight transport reached 1,886 billion tonne-kilometres in 2025. International transport alone represented 24.4% of total road freight activity.

These figures illustrate the scale of the network required to keep European businesses connected. Goods need to move between production facilities, warehouses, distribution centres and final destinations every day. For companies operating internationally, dependable road connections therefore remain an important part of supply chain continuity.

The European Commission’s road transport policy also highlights the importance of efficient, safe and environmentally responsible road transport services within the European Union.
